The VXIbus Consortium Announces a New Web Site and Quarterly Electronic Newsletter

NIWOT, CO -- (MARKET WIRE) -- March 29, 2007 -- The VXIbus Consortium today announced that it has made a significant re-design and update to its web site and will also be starting distribution of a quarterly electronic newsletter. The newsletter contains the latest information relative to recent VXIbus product releases, industry application examples, and articles highlighting the core strengths of the platform that form the foundation for its continued success as "the bus you can trust" nearly twenty years after the initial release of the specification. The web site re-design and newsletter are part of the initial phase of a plan that was recently put in place by the consortium members to enhance market awareness of the VXIbus standard and the industry problems that it is solving.

A recent report* from Frost & Sullivan relative to the market size for VXIbus modules, mainframes and controllers showed it is clearly the most popular modular instrumentation standard in terms of total sales volume. The report also stated that VXIbus equipment sales are driven by the fact that VXIbus continues to be the platform of choice for Military and Defense markets and that the ruggedness of VXIbus systems helps them function in hostile physical environments. This emphasizes the fact that the VXIbus continues to provide the best platform in the high density, high performance application spaces for which it was originally designed.

Keith Abercromby, EADS North America Defense, Test and Services Inc. and marketing co-chair of the consortium, commented, "The VXIbus continues to help solve many tough automated test applications particularly in the Military and Aerospace arena." He continued, "One thing that has been lacking over the past few years is a way to convey these successes to a wider audience." The updated web site and the new quarterly newsletter will provide vehicles for manufacturers and end users to communicate the value that the VXIbus is providing to them today.

Tom Sarfi, VXI Technology Inc. and president of the consortium, added, "The stability of the VXIbus platform and its ability to adapt to new technology over time, while maintaining complete backward compatibility, has contributed to its popularity within our customer base. It is firmly established as the bus that system designers can trust for applications that require the test platform to outlive the device it was originally designed to test."

To sign up for the newsletter, please visit the VXIbus web site, located at www.vxibus.org. The web site will also serve as a focal point for automated test solution focused application notes and white papers. System integrators, vendors and end users are encouraged to submit an article or white paper highlighting a VXIbus-based solution. For submissions, please contact Bob Helsel, Executive Director of the VXIbus Consortium.
