"The Wall" Recounts 25 Years of Remembrance & Healing

EVANSVILLE, IN--(Marketwire - April 29, 2008) - When America's years of involvement in the Vietnam War ended in 1975, returning veterans faced hostility and hatred from civilians. Healing for the nation began in November 1982 with the dedication of a memorial to honor all who served and the more than 58,000 men and women who had lost their lives in that long war.

"The Wall: 25 Years of Healing and Educating," recently published by M.T. Publishing, vividly recounts the campaign to establish the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, including funding by donations from the American public, the contest to produce the perfect design, and the memorial's construction. When The Wall was dedicated on November 11, 1984, Jan Scruggs, a Vietnam veteran and driving force behind the memorial, spoke for all Vietnam era veterans when he said, "Thank you, America... for finally remembering us."

Twenty-five years after the dedication of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., The Wall is a tangible symbol of recognition of those who served and sacrificed in the Vietnam War. In addition, it has brought healing to a nation severely torn by the controversies of that war. This volume, "The Wall," reflects the impact of the memorial on visitors. Scruggs quoted one visitor's reaction: "You don't go see it; you experience it. You experience it by touching The Wall, as The Wall touches you."

Publisher Mark Thompson stated, "Whether read as history or memoir, 'The Wall' will fascinate readers. This hardbound volume of more than 200 pages includes hundreds of photos and recounts stories and memories from many people associated with The Wall." The book is officially licensed by the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund in Washington, D.C., the organization responsible for the building of the memorial. A portion of the sales from this book goes to the VVMF.

M.T. Publishing has been publishing commemorative edition history books since 1986. The company is a full-service publisher providing all services necessary to see a publication project through from concept to completion.
