The "Wind Symphony Masterpieces" Concert, a Must See in Ottawa This Weekend!

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 4, 2011) - For the first time, the Regimental Band of the Governor General's Foot Guards and the Central Band of the Canadian Forces are joining talents to present a fabulous concert for music lovers entitled "Wind Symphony Masterpieces" on Sunday, February 6 at 2 p.m. at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum in Ottawa.

This event is a unique opportunity to see and hear more than 65 Canadian Forces musicians presenting an exciting assortment of wind band pieces amidst the aircraft of the newly renovated museum. The event is free with museum admission.

"We are very excited to be a part of this event," said Lieutenant-Colonel Fran Chilton-Mackay, Director of Music for the Governor General's Foot Guards Band. "This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the very best musical talent of the Canadian Forces."

The Governor General's Foot Guards Band is an Army Reserve Brass and Reed band that has been in existence since the formation of the Regiment in 1872. The Central Band of the Canadian Forces is the Regular Force band, part of the Air Command. Both bands are based in Ottawa.


On February 4, 2011, the Museum reopened its doors to the public following renovations. The Museum is located at the intersection of the Aviation and Rockcliffe Parkways, just 10 minutes from Parliament Hill. Admission is free for serving and retired Canadian Forces members. General admission is $18 for families, $9 adults, $6 for students and seniors, $5 for children 4-15, and free for children under 4. Parking is also free.
