The World Is a Stage.... At the Philadelphia Multicultural Arts and Music Extravaganza

Part of the PECO Multicultural Series, Celebrating "Global Fusion"

PHILADELPHIA, PA--(Marketwire - August 17, 2007) - The Philadelphia Multicultural Affairs Congress (MAC) invites you to come out and get entertained for FREE at the Great Plaza at Penn's Landing on Columbus Boulevard at Chestnut Street. For two days, MAC will celebrate its 20th Anniversary by showcasing the cultures it promotes within PECO's Multicultural Series titled the Multicultural Arts & Music Extravaganza. On Saturday, August 25th and Sunday, August 26th, from Noon until 8:00 p.m., the extravaganza-themed "Global Fusion" will feature a variety of cultural music and ethnic dance performances, foods, crafts, giveaways and educational programs for participants of all ages. This FREE event is made possible by Independence Blue Cross, the presenting sponsor of the 2007 summer season at Penn's Landing.

The musical entertainment will create the theme for the two-day festival. Some of the cultural performers include: Jose Maria Flores' Mariachi Band, Henry Hall and the New Dimensions of Worship, Shofuso Taiko, Grupo Fuego, Universal African Dance & Drum Ensemble, Trio Crisol and SOULE. Each day of the festival will be highlighted with a special headliner performance. Saturday, August 25 will feature DJ Jazzy Jeff and Big Daddy Kane. Sunday, August 26's headliner will be Jeff Bradshaw and friends.

Along with the stage entertainment, Philadelphia International Records Karaoke will be hosted by Kindred the Family Soul. Other participating organizations include the Filipino Intercultural Society of Drexel University and the Southeastern Cherokee Confederacy. The Children's Pavilion will offer cultural enrichment and feature the Philadelphia Zoo on Wheels, cultural face painting, and multicultural crafts.

This free event, presented by PECO and the Philadelphia Multicultural Affairs Congress, is showcasing the cultures they promote and celebrating their 20th anniversary with this festival as the centerpiece of their commemorative year.
