The World's Best Athletes Prep for Ironman Chattanooga September 28th

Ironman Enters Five-Year Agreement With Chattanooga to Host the Annual Triathlon Beginning This Fall

CHATTANOOGA, TN--(Marketwired - Sep 10, 2014) - The world's toughest athletes are set to lace up for the ultimate test of endurance on September 28th, 2014 as the Fairfield Inn & Suites Chattanooga welcomes the 11th race in the Ironman U.S. series to Chattanooga, Tennessee. The annual triathlon, which sees athletes test their limits enduring a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bicycling ride and a 26.2-mile run, opens with the first of five annual events set to take place in Chattanooga over the next five years.

The five-year agreement brings one of the world's toughest and most grueling competitions to a city known for its abundance of outdoor recreation and a thriving athletic community. Athletes are scheduled to arrive throughout the last week of September to prep for the event, which will offer proceeds benefitting the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America.

"Chattanooga was a natural fit for this event," said city Mayor Andy Berke, who added that the Ironman competition will introduce the city to a whole new range of athletes, securing its reputation as a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts, for everyone from hang-gliders to rock-climbers and beyond.

Fairfield Inn & Suites Chattanooga will provide accommodations with easy access to some of the best vantage points along the course, including the city's famous Riverwalk which will overlook the triathlon's 2.4-mile point-to-point swim. The bike path loops around the countryside's scenic farmlands and rolling hills, highlighted by Tennessee's breathtaking mountains, while the 26.2-mile run winds through downtown Chattanooga, showcasing the South Side, Riverview and the North Shore.

Located minutes from the airport, the Chattanooga hotel near the Tennessee Aquarium and Chattanooga Amazon, is a modern and contemporary landmark set against the bustling activity of one of Tennessee's most idyllic cities. From its complimentary breakfast bar, offering tasty and healthy options, to its free WiFi and convenient location, the property is the perfect launching pad for guests traveling to town for this year's event.
