Theatre and Golf Merge in Muskoka

Muskoka Theatre Project at Red Leaves premieres Vince Grittani’s “Scenes From The 19th Hole”, a new musical revue

Attention: Arts/Entertainment Editor, Lifestyle Editor, Sports Editor, Travel/Tourism Editor MUSKOKA, ONTARIO SUMMER THEATRE--(CCNMatthews - April 20, 2007) - Following last year's hit "Wedding Whine and Cottage Cheese" the Muskoka Theatre Project at the Red Leaves Playhouse Tent on Lake Rosseau premieres "Scenes From The 19th Hole", a humourus look at the culture surrounding golf. Included in this production is "Der Flutterputt", an irreverent opera saluting the tin cup. Besides a cast of top professional Canadian musical theatre performers, the show features Birdie, "The Old Golf Bag", a sarcastic puppet who narrates the show.

Since summer 2002 The Muskoka Theatre Project under the direction of playwright and producer Vince Grittani (known for his 80's Toronto hit "Yuppies, The Musical" and CanWest TV series "The Weekend Guy") has been developing its own brand of entertainment that continues to receive recognition beyond the borders of cottage country.

In 2006, Grittani's 2002 one-woman play "Quiet! I'm Talking" was produced at both Theatre Aquarius in Hamilton and The Diesel Playhouse in Toronto. Plans are in the works to mount an East Coast tour in 2008 starring Canadian icon Catherine McKinnon.

Also in 2006, Grittani's and composing partner Rosalind Mills' highly successful 2004 musical "Wake Me When It's Over!" won the Brampton Flower City Festival playwriting competition.

The future appears to be equally promising for the writing duo. Their 2003 cottage spoof "Scenes From My Dock!" which has had received many subsequent productions around Ontario is being staged in August 2008 by the Electric City Playhouse in Anderson, South Carolina

"Scenes From The 19th Hole" opens at The Red Leaves Playhouse, Wednesday, July 18, 2007 and runs through to Saturday, August 18. For tickets and times visit
