Their Excellencies 'Live It' at the 2013 Canada Summer Games

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Aug. 15, 2013) - Their Excellencies the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, and Mrs. Sharon Johnston will officially close the 2013 Canada Summer Games. The closing ceremony will be held at Jacques-Cartier Park, in Sherbrooke, Quebec, on Saturday, August 17, 2013.

Throughout the day, Their Excellencies will cheer on young athletes from across Canada at various events, including the Women's Beach Volleyball finals, where they will present the gold, silver and bronze medals.

"Over the last two weeks, athletes from all across Canada have competed in the 2013 Canada Summer Games, and they should be proud of what they have accomplished," His Excellency stated. "The skill and sportsmanship on display have given us many exciting moments and fond memories, and I am delighted to congratulate the participants on their efforts."

At 8:30 p.m., Their Excellencies will attend the Games' closing ceremony, at which time the Governor General will address those in attendance and officially declare the 2013 Canada Summer Games closed.

Since 1967, the Canada Games have played a central role in the promotion of sport and physical activity in our provinces and territories, uniting more than 100 000 athletes. Presented every two years in a different province or territory, the Games alternate between winter and summer sessions.
