Thermador Unveils New Steam & Convection Oven for Holiday Cooking

New Oven Debuts at Thermador's "Hotter, Cooler, Faster, Better™" Rooftop Culinary Event on October 6, 2010 in New York

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA--(Marketwire - October 4, 2010) -  Just in time for the holiday cooking season, luxury-appliance brand Thermador, the inventor of the wall oven, this week introduces its newest cooking innovation: the Steam & Convection Oven, which gives culinary enthusiasts all the benefits of steam cooking combined with traditional true convection -- all in one appliance.

Thermador officially unveils this revolutionary oven, which will make holiday cooking more convenient, flavorful and healthier, on Wednesday, October 6, at the invite-only "Hotter, Cooler, Faster, Better" rooftop culinary media event in New York, scheduled for 11:30 a.m. at Skylight West near West 36th Street and 10th Avenue. Thermador also will be previewing its revitalized brand image and bold marketing campaign for 2011 and beyond during the luncheon.

The Steam & Convection Oven is the luxury-appliance industry's first pre-programmed appliance to combine three distinct cooking options -- steam, true convection and a combination of the two. It also includes 40 automatic food programs, nine advanced cooking modes and a series of advanced features that are geared toward the true cooking enthusiast.

Ideal for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, the oven's 1.4-cubic-foot capacity is large enough for a 14-pound turkey, which takes only 90 minutes to cook in Combination mode and results in a succulent, moist inside and a perfect crust outside. Steam cooking can also eliminate the need for cooking with butter or fat, while preserving many of the vitamins, minerals, nutrients and micronutrients typically lost through traditional cooking methods -- resulting in a tastier and healthier holiday meal.

"With the holidays rapidly approaching, this is absolutely the perfect time for the Thermador Steam & Convection Oven to hit the market," said Zach Elkin, Director, Luxury Division, Thermador. "This oven will provide a new steamed alternative to the way holiday meals are traditionally prepared, which equates to not only better-tasting, moist and tender food, but also healthier meals prepared at a fraction of the time of conventional cooking methods."

With the new Steam & Convection Oven, home cooks can realize gourmet restaurant-caliber results in food taste, appearance, texture and crispness. Steamed food stays moist on the inside and perfectly finished on the outside, and multiple dishes can be cooked at the same time without the risk of flavor transfer or the need for temperature or time adjustment. The oven is pre-programmed with nine advanced cooking modes, including True Convection, Steaming, Combination, Reheat, Proof (keeps bread from drying out), Slow Cook, Defrost, Keep Warm and Dish Warm (prevents food in preheated ovenware from cooking as quickly).

During Wednesday's event, Thermador will redefine traditional holiday fare by steam cooking turkey and vegetable sides in the new oven, but also demonstrate this cooking approach on foods not typically associated with steam, such as desserts and even artisan breads.

The Thermador Steam & Convection Oven will be available to consumers through authorized dealers nationwide starting in October with an MSRP ranging from $3,299 to $3,499.
