Third Brigade Names Kevin Forbes as Chief Financial Officer and Announces the Formation of its Advisory Board

Paul Van Oorschot, world renowned security researcher, and Sandra Lambert, ISSA Founder, to join Advisory Board

Third Brigade Inc. today announced Kevin Forbes joined the company as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The company also announced the formation of its Advisory Board with Paul Van Oorschot, Canada Research Chair in Network and Software Security, and Sandra Lambert, Founder and founding President of the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA), joining as the initial members.

Mr. Forbes has spent over 15 years building an outstanding track record in the high tech industry. Most notably, he served as VP Finance at Catena Networks, and played an instrumental role in completing its $470 million USD acquisition by CIENA Corporation. After leaving Catena Networks, Mr. Forbes became Vice President, Finance and Administration and CFO of COAST, which was acquired by Watchfire Technologies in June of this year. He has also held senior management positions with a number of technology companies, including Newbridge Networks.

Third Brigade also welcomed to its Advisory Board 20 year veteran, Paul Van Oorschot, Canada Research Chair in Network and Software Security. Currently a Professor in Computer Science at Carleton University, Dr. Van Oorschot heads the university's Digital Security Group, which explores fundamental security issues in networked information systems, emphasizing research projects motivated by practical problems. Dr. Van Oorschot is also the inventor of 16 issued U.S. patents, and is best known as the co-author of the Handbook of Applied Cryptography. He also played a role in pioneering Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) at Entrust as the company's former Chief Scientist, Vice President, and Chief Security Architect.

Sandra Lambert, a well-known IT Security industry expert has also joined Third Brigade's Advisory Board. Ms. Lambert is the former Chairperson of the Board, Founder and founding President of the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) and was instrumental in the development of the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) designation. Ms. Lambert is currently the Senior Partner and Managing Director at Lambert & Associates, LLC, in Los Angeles, where she specializes in information security and business continuity consulting with clients worldwide. Prior to Ms. Lambert's current position, she served in several senior management positions in IT Security in the financial industry. In addition, Ms. Lambert held a four-year term on the National Computer System Security and Privacy Advisory Board established by the Computer Security Act of 1987, and a six-year term on the NIST Information Technology Lab Assessment Board. She also served on the National Academy of Sciences Systems Security Study Committee where she co-authored Computers at Risk: Safe Computing In The Information Age.
