Third Century BCE Labyrinth Constructed at New American Castle

Labyrinths in Stone Recreates Ancient Mystical Design

MIDDLEFIELD, MA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- July 1, 2005 -- The New American Castle, a luxury show home in the Berkshires of Massachusetts, has commissioned Marty and Debi Kermeen, owners of Labyrinths In Stone (www.labyrinthsinstone.com), to re-create a third Century BCE labyrinth on the Castle property.

Labyrinths are ancient designs that are said to provide a spiritual walkway to the seat of the soul. They are non-denominational and offer a walking meditation and/or prayer for the path walkers. Labyrinths are fast becoming a part of landscapes across America. Labyrinths in Stone is responsible for the construction of over 40 labyrinths at hospitals, parks, churches, schools and private residences. The Kermeens have constructed many different designs, including a replica of the famous Chartre Cathedral labyrinth, originally built in northwestern France in the year 1200.

The New American Castle labyrinth is a replica of one found on a Greek coin dating back over 3,500 years. This will be the first time that the company will have built this particular design. The labyrinth will span 45' x 45', and will be constructed out of paving stones made by Paveloc Corporation.
