The Industrial Retention Network (NYIRN) and the Industrial and Technology Assistance Corporation (ITAC) announce the third session of "Spec It Green: The Contractor's Advantage," a series of four seminars to educate building professionals about the benefits of using green building products made in New York City. This event explores the benefits of installing sustainable building materials such as window treatments, counter tops and energy efficient products when seeking LEED certification. A panel of experts who are currently working in the heart of New York City's green building industry will form a moderated group, and take questions from the audience. Also featured will be displays of green building products designed and built by sponsoring firms.

Spec It Green Spawns a New Community of Green Partners

A side effect of the Spec It Green series has been the growth of new partnerships and the potential for new products and services among companies who have participated in the series. Spec It Green is sponsored by seven green companies: DFB, a manufacturer of vertical interior products, Globus Cork Inc., a manufacturer of cork tiles, GREEN DEPOT, a distributor of environmental building products, IceStone, a manufacturer of high-end green building material using recycled glass, ISLAND Architectural Woodwork Inc., a manufacturer of high-end architectural woodwork, Paul D. Miller Design Inc., a graphic and web site design firm and Visual Graphic Systems, a manufacturer of corporate and industrial signage.

Seminar Co-Hosts

The seminar is co-hosted by ITAC and NYIRN, both dedicated to retaining jobs in New York City. ITAC is a city-wide economic development organization that seeks to strengthen the economy of New York City by improving the performance of small- to mid-size firms that create or produce technical or manufactured products. NYIRN is a city-wide economic development organization that promotes a diverse economy that provides employment and entrepreneurial opportunities for all New Yorkers by strengthening New York City's manufacturing sector, based on principles of economic and environmental justice and sustainability.
