Third Transportation Finance Lawyer Joins King & Spalding's Charlotte Office

CHARLOTTE, NC--(Marketwired - February 03, 2016) - King & Spalding announced today that transportation finance lawyer Christopher T. Buchanan has joined the firm's Charlotte office as a partner with the finance practice. Buchanan was previously a partner at Moore & Van Allen.

Buchanan represents lenders and lessors in all aspects of equipment finance, with an emphasis on business aircraft, vehicles and rail equipment. He also has significant experience counseling clients in asset-based loans and supply chain finance facilities as well as facilities and claims involving the Export-Import Bank of the United States and foreign export credit agencies. He has closed transactions ranging from under $10 million to over $1 billion. Buchanan received his B.A. from Rhodes College, and his J.D., cum laude, from Wake Forest University School of Law, where he was a recipient of the Fred B. Helms scholarship and where he was the Symposium Editor of the Law Review.

Buchanan is the second transportation finance partner to join King & Spalding in the past month. Jason Huff, who joined the firm at the end of January, was also a partner at Moore & Van Allen. Joining them at King & Spalding is a junior associate.

"With the addition of Chris to the finance team, we have increased our ability to meet the growing demand of our clients involved in the financing of transportation equipment," said Carolyn Z. Alford, head of King & Spalding's finance practice group. "Chris and Jason's railcar and aircraft expertise will be valuable to our clients."

"Since opening in 2007, King & Spalding's Charlotte office, which focuses on advising financial institutions, has quadrupled in size," said Todd Holleman, head of that office. "We are excited to start the year with three new transportation finance lawyers and are looking forward to integrating them into the firm."

"The momentum of the firm and the Charlotte office were compelling factors in my decision to join King & Spalding," said Buchanan. "I am excited to bring my experience to the firm and to grow the firm's finance practice."
