Cold Spring Harbor Is Going to the Dogs as the 3rd Annual Howl-ween Parade and Celebration Is Set

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - October 20, 2009) - If you're looking to be part of this year's premier A-List fall event, then the picturesque Village of Cold Spring Harbor is the place to be on Saturday, October 24th (raindate October 25th) at 12 noon for the 3rd Annual Howl-ween Parade and Celebration. Once again, this spectacular star-studded celebration will take place in the old whaling village hosted by everyone's favorite Westie, Corky Nightingale and an elite group of her canine friends. The event calls attention to the importance of animal welfare with a percentage of proceeds raised to be donated to several organizations focused on "rescue dogs and dogs that rescue" including Suffolk County SPCA, NY Animal Rescue Foundation and Town of Huntington Animal Shelter. This year, participants are asked to bring a donation of pet food to support the new Pet Pantry operated by Long Island Cares, Inc. -- The Harry Chapin Food Bank that provides food to needy family pets through their network of more than 560 community-based pantries and hunger assistance organizations.

Breeds from all over the world are planning to participate in the chic canine costume parade and "Paws for A Cause" festival. Spectators will line Main Street to see canines model their finest costumes as they march to the tune "Who Let the Dogs Out!" The parade will begin at the corner of Main Street (Route 25A) and Spring Street at 12 noon and culminates in an exciting festival at Cold Spring Harbor Park where the canine celebrities will be greeted by "pupparazzi" as they enter the park on the "Red Carpet."
