Thomas Junior of Junior Enterprise and His Beginnings

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Jan. 14, 2011) - Thomas Junior of Junior Enterprise is used to fighting his corner - having grown up in a family of 20 there was no place for shrinking violets.

"I come from a very privileged and wealthy background. Having 12 brothers and 8 sisters who are all successful Doctors, Lawyers, Accountants and Dentists there was always a lot of pressure to succeed."

At first Thomas followed his siblings into the traditional professions and when the credit crunch hit he was working as a junior Accountant at a law firm. Seeing his hours cut down, Thomas started to realise that, because of the politics within the firm, his chances of progressing were very slim. This is when he began to look further afield and before long happened upon the Outsourcing Sales industry.

"I started working in outsourcing purely as a way to earn some cash. I would make the 3 ½ hour commute each way from London to Maidstone to go to work in the field."

Thomas is the first to admit that his attitude when he first started was not what it needed to be and it wasn't until the day he saw his coach be promoted that he began to truly sense the opportunities in front of him. It was then that he decided to move to Colchester and commit to the industry 100% and from that point it took him just 7 months to reach management level. Up until that point it had not been a popular decision with his family - particularly his mother who threatened to disown him!

"They had a preconceived idea of what the industry is about; they thought I would be knocking on doors for the rest of my life. I used their doubts as motivation to prove them wrong and now they are really proud of what I am achieving."

Thomas set up Junior Enterprise when he was just 22 and feels a responsibility to people of his own age who he feels are wrongly castigated as troublemakers.

"The reason I called the company Junior Enterprise is that I want to give back to the community, in particular young people. I want to give young people the opportunities I have been given so that we can prove the media wrong."
