Thought Equity Motion Powers Enterprise-Wide Metadata Management for Sony Pictures Entertainment

Studio to Create New Value From Vast Entertainment Library and Enable Next Generation Uses With Thought Equity Motion's T3 Metadata Editor

DENVER, CO--(Marketwire - March 31, 2011) - Thought Equity Motion, Inc., a leading provider of video platform and footage licensing services, today announced that it will work with Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) to drive new value from their vast entertainment content library by using Thought Equity Motion's T3 Metadata Editor to better manage content and clearance information in a frame-by-frame capacity and to power compelling new consumer offerings.

"We selected Thought Equity Motion for their high-scale video metadata platform," said Peter Ward, Senior Vice President of Information Operations and Content Licensing at SPE. "The massive amount of visual data we work with in movies and TV shows must be textually searchable and mapped to a huge amount of other information -- such as clearances, rights and restrictions, and music cue sheets. The more easily we can store and access that information, the smarter we can be in using it."

The T3 Metadata Editor supports multi-track, frame level metadata with both manual workflows and automated tools, such as facial recognition, scene detection, and script synching. The product is offered as a module within Thought Equity Motion's Hosted Video Platform, enabling web-based access for users.

Sony Pictures is utilizing the T3 Metadata Editor to:

  • Search by actor, line of dialogue, location, and a range of other parameters so that they can create interactive features that enable fans to search for words within the script and share their favorite moments
  • Manage restrictions around product placements, talent clearances, and music in order to dynamically create trailers, clips, and other edits for online promotion, social linking, and targeted ads

"We're excited to be supporting Sony Picture's leading-edge initiatives around content management," said Kevin Schaff, CEO and Founder of Thought Equity Motion. "With the transformation of their titles through metadata, Sony Pictures Entertainment is poised to unlock new business models, and change the way entertainment fans find and interact with content."
