Thousand Oaks Surgical Hospital Wins Patient Advocate Award

THOUSAND OAKS, CA--(Marketwire - Feb 20, 2012) - Thousand Oaks Surgical Hospital earned the Patient Advocate Award by the Professional Patient Advocate Institute in the nationwide, small hospital category.

The Patient Advocate Awards is the first national program to recognize advocates from all settings and to celebrate the work of those in this emerging field. Patient advocacy aims to give all consumers who enter the healthcare system a voice, to ensure that they have the knowledge to prevent and manage chronic conditions, and to encourage them to become active participants in their care. The Awards Program sets the benchmark for recognizing those who provide patient advocacy services on behalf of patients and their families.

"Thousand Oaks Surgical Hospital is patient-centered," stated Bob Shaw, CEO. "From reception to patient discharge, each member of our team is empowered to provide extraordinary personalized care to every patient and family that we have the privilege to serve."

Winners were recognized at the Professional Patient Advocate Institute's 2011 Patient Advocate Conference Awards Luncheon, which took place December 5, 2011, at the Gaylord Palms Hotel in Orlando, Fla. The 2011 Patient Advocate Conference and Awards Program brought together advocates from various sectors of the practice to celebrate their vital work, which is improving the patient experience by enhancing quality and safety while containing healthcare costs.
