Thousands Experience the MET Opera on the Giant Screen with Sell-Out Audiences in Theatres Across Canada

Don't miss Bellini's / Puritani being shown this Saturday January 6th

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Jan. 3, 2007) - Cineplex Entertainment (TSX:CGX.UN)

The curtains rose for the first time on December 30th exclusively at 28 Cineplex Entertainment theatres in Canada as opera fans enjoyed Mozart's Magic Flute in the comfort of their local theatre as the first of six Metropolitan Opera performances was broadcast live via satellite in HD from Lincoln Center in New York.

"The first performance this past weekend, Mozart's Magic Flute, was a resounding success with many theatres having sold out in advance of the presentation and others selling out the day of the event," said Pat Marshall, Vice-President, Communications and Investor Relations, Cineplex Entertainment. "This unique opportunity to show opera performances live via satellite in High Definition really is the next best thing to being at the Met. Numerous guests who attended the presentation were completely thrilled and immediately went to the box office to buy tickets for the next even on January 6th."
