Thousands of Nortel Customers Set to Converge on Lone Star State for Global Connect 2008

Nortel CEO and Enterprise President to Headline Event; Share Latest in Unified Communications

DALLAS, TEXAS--(Marketwire - April 30, 2008) - Nortel(1) (TSX:NT)(NYSE:NT) enterprise customers from around the globe will soon be making their way to Texas to learn about the hottest new developments in technology, talk with the Nortel leadership team, and get different perspectives on how solutions like unified communications are transforming businesses of all types and sizes.

The event, Global Connect 2008, runs June 1 to 4 in Grapevine, Texas, at the Gaylord Texan Resort(2) and is hosted by the International Nortel Networks Users Association's(2) (INNUA). It features a full lineup of educational tracks and an exhibit hall with more than 100 of the industry's top IT solutions providers.

This year, Mike Zafirovski, president and chief executive officer of Nortel, will share his insight on the path the company is taking in helping enterprises and Joel Hackney, president, Enterprise Solutions will present Nortel's unified communications strategy, which calls for streamlining communications with business processes for greater simplicity, heightened productivity, and faster decision making. The first general session kicks off with an update from Steve Ford, president, INNUA.

Nortel's Steven Bandrowczak, chief information officer, is also on the agenda and will discuss how Nortel enables its own virtual enterprise. Chief Marketing Officer Lauren Flaherty will lead an interactive panel session on unified communications with leading-edge users addressing the evolution of enterprise telephony solutions to UC and service-oriented architectures. In addition, the Users' Open Forum, one of the most highly anticipated events each year at Global Connect, is back again, where participants are encouraged to submit their most burning questions for a Nortel team member to answer.

"Global Connect is the place to get relevant, practical answers and real-world solutions to communication challenges," said Hackney. "This event is a platform for learning how new unified communications technologies can simplify business communications. More importantly, unified communications speeds enterprise communications enabling the right person to be contacted at the right time, removing human latency from the equation and providing the edge companies need to excel."

Global Connect 2008 includes a revamped education program and all new education tracks. Many sessions are presented by customers and Nortel contributes program content through its Nortel Enterprise Technology Forum. The education program boasts nearly 100 focused sessions covering data networking, contact center, mobility, IVR, unified communications, convergence and professional development.

"We expect 3,000 attendees at this year's event and the education and training that INNUA provides at Global Connect gives our members the tools they need to advance their career," said Steve Ford, INNUA president. "Maintaining relevance to their organizations is how our members continue to succeed, even in a tight economy."

INSIGHT 100inc, the membership organization for customers that have the Nortel SL-100/CS 2100 installed, and PACE, the forum for customers using IVR/self-service and speech recognition technology solutions, will also be held during Global Connect.

"Networking with other Nortel users is central to INSIGHT 100inc, and holding our conference as part of INNUA's Global Connect 2008 expands those opportunities for members of both associations as well as Nortel users with no current affiliation," said Cindy Phillips, president, INSIGHT 100inc. "Sharing best practices and technology strategies with like-minded colleagues is invaluable as we work to balance the growing needs of our businesses with shrinking IT budgets."
