Thriller 'sonicPING' Gives Old-Fashioned Detective Work a New-Age Spin

GRAND RAPIDS, MI--(Marketwire - Dec 15, 2011) - Orlando Stephenson's new high-tech thriller, "sonicPING" (, pits the very good guys against the vilest of villains in a whodunit driven by a search engine.

Protagonist Daryl Morgan is a millionaire who answers a call for help from his best friend's widow, Madeline. It seems her late husband kept a few secrets regarding $2 million, and now she's getting threats from guys who claim the money was stolen from them. They, of course, want it back, and they're not above kidnapping her niece to get it.

In lending a hand to Maddie, Daryl and his friend Rodger Truscott, a former Navy SEAL and electronics genius, are led into a morass of international crime, human trafficking and murder that sends him chasing around the globe.

The seeming well-spring of foul play is sonicPING, the hot new rival to Google, which is being used to steal billions of dollars from users through click fraud. Anyone who gets too close to learning the truth about the operation gets killed or sold into slavery, which is just what happens to Maddie. Daryl and Rodger set off for Tripoli to rescue her, enlisting a host of helpers -- a godsend considering villains abound, from Russian mobsters to Middle Eastern oil tzars.

"sonicPING" is getting enthusiastic reviews on, where it's repeatedly hailed as a "real page-turner." a fast read, and a great detective story.

"'sonicPING' is a very addictive novel. You keep finding yourself being drawn back to it, hoping to discover the answers that both Daryl Morgan and Rodger Truscott are seeking," wrote Wayne C. Rogers of Las Vegas. "The reader also gets a crash course in Internet search engines and how the larger ones work. Needless to say, I found this book to be both fun and intriguing to read."
