Thumping Tails and Baja Sharkeez Dedicate Taco Tuesday to Homeless Dogs

Local Hermosa Beach "Hot Spot" Helps Raise Funds and Awareness for Animal Rescue Group

HERMOSA BEACH, CA--(Marketwire - Apr 14, 2011) - Thumping Tails Animal Rescue ( and Baja Sharkeez ( have partnered to raise awareness and funds for homeless dogs through a special event on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. to midnight. Sharkeez is offering drink specials* to all guests who make a $10 donation to Thumping Tails to support homeless and abandoned dogs.

"When a volunteer from Thumping Tails approached us about a fundraising event, we were immediately excited about helping out," said Jordan Cressman, managing partner, Baja Sharkeez, Hermosa Beach. "Aside from my personal love of animals, Sharkeez is committed to giving back to the community. Hermosa Beach is a dog-friendly city, and animal rescue is an important issue for many residents."

Sharkeez is located on the Hermosa Beach Pier and offers great food and drinks in a fun, casual atmosphere. Every Tuesday is Taco Tuesday at Sharkeez, where guests can nosh on a variety of tacos and appetizers at Happy Hour prices.

"We're so grateful that Sharkeez is helping generate awareness for Thumping Tails in the local community," said Jill Blackstone, founder of Thumping Tails. "Our hope is that more people will learn about our organization and understand the importance of adopting from a rescue organization or shelter."

Thumping Tails currently has 12 dogs available for adoption, including Lola, a 4-year-old female American bulldog mix and Davey, a 6-year-old male American bulldog mix. Lola and Davey, the group's two longest residents, have been with Thumping Tails for two and three years, respectively.
