ARLINGTON, Va.--(CCNMatthews - Oct 31, 2005) -

The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) has reached an agreement with the Japan Electronics Show Association (JESA) to co-support the industry trade shows GLOBALCOMM™ and CEATEC JAPAN. This gives each organization sizeable reach into North American and Asian markets to promote information and communications technology (ICT) industry activities and showcase advanced technologies, products and systems converging in the sector.

CEATEC JAPAN (Combined Exhibition of Advanced Technologies) is one of the largest international exhibitions in Asia for the technology and electronics sectors, including the fields of imaging, information and communications. At CEATEC JAPAN 2005 a total of 788 companies and organizations occupied 2,775 booths, including 293 exhibitors from 28 other countries and regions around the world. The exhibition drew 199,680 registered visitors in the five days it was open. CEATEC JAPAN was first launched in 2000 through the merger of two of Japan's leading trade exhibitions -- COM JAPAN, which was designed in line with new information and communications needs, and the Japan Electronics Show, the oldest trade exhibition in Japan. Much like GLOBALCOMM, the shows reflect the tremendous change in the ICT industry and the way suppliers and customers are able to interact.

GLOBALCOMM 2006 will feature 450+ exhibitors, free keynote addresses and panels, paid conferences by the International Engineering Consortium and other organizations, and collocation with OSP EXPO, the Outside Plant Exposition and Conference. Approximately 20,000 attendees from 100 countries are expected to be present at the event.

CEATEC JAPAN was held outside Tokyo in the Makuhari Messe, October 4-8, 2005. The debut of GLOBALCOMM will be in Chicago's McCormick Place, June 4-8, 2006. For TIA, GLOBALCOMM 2006 replaces SUPERCOMM® as TIA's annual ICT industry event.
