TicketLiquidator's Ticket of the Week: Jay-Z's North American Concert Tour

VERNON, CT--(Marketwire - October 5, 2009) - TicketLiquidator, the leading provider of the world's most extensive ticket inventory for hard-to-find, low-priced tickets, announced that Jay-Z tickets to his North American tour are available for purchase at affordable prices on

Jay-Z, the top grossing hip-hop artist of the millennium, recently announced dates for his upcoming tour to support the release of his eleventh studio album -- "Blueprint 3." The tour will also include top hip-hop performers including N.E.R.D. featuring Pharrell Williams, Chad Hugo of The Neptunes and sophomore rappers Wale and J. Cole.

Jay-Z, who recently performed with Rihanna and Kanye West on the "Run This Town" collaboration, didn't always have a huge name in the hip-hop scene. This entrepreneur, a.k.a Sean Carter, was raised in the Marcy Projects in Brooklyn, New York where violence was commonplace. Carter's interest for music was sparked after he began free styling to a boom box purchased by his mother.

Although Jay-Z achieved widespread notoriety in 1994 on Big Daddy Kane's album "Daddy's Home," no major record label wanted to sign him. It wasn't until the creation of his own record label -- Roc-A-Fella Records and the release of his second and third studio albums "Vol. 1" and "Vol 2. Hard Knock Life" with chart topping tracks like "Hard Knock Life" and "Can I Get A...", that Jay Z would achieve multi-platinum status.

Despite his tremendously successful rap music career, Jay-Z is also known for his entrepreneurial and philanthropic efforts. Like hip-hop businessmen Russell Simmons and P. Diddy, Jay-Z has created a number of branded products and companies including the urban clothing brand Rocawear, The 40/40 Club in Las Vegas and partial ownership of the New Jersey Nets. In addition, Jay-Z's philanthropic efforts have raised awareness for the global water shortage in Africa and he has made donations to the American Red Cross in support of Hurricane Katrina victims.

"Rap music fans have always held Jay-Z in high regard for his rags to riches success story," stated Alexandra Owens, Managing Editor, TicketLiquidator. "The rap star shares a record for the most number one albums on Billboard charts with Elvis Presley, so tickets are expected to sell out rapidly," added Owens.

Since 1996, Jay-Z has released eleven studio albums, ten of which have reached the number one positions on U.S. R & B charts. He has collaborated with the likes of R. Kelly, Linkin Park, Lil Wayne, Spice Girls and the late Notorious BIG. Jay-Z has won numerous awards for his music including eight Grammy Awards ranging from "Best Rap Album" to "Best Rap Solo Performance" categories in addition to garnering multiple MTV Video Music Awards and BET Awards. From retirement to record-holder, Jay-Z shows no signs of slowing down; Jay-Z tickets to his North American concert tour are TicketLiquidator's Ticket of the Week.
