TicketNetwork Advisory -- Major League Baseball Ticket Sales Midseason Report

VERNON, CT--(Marketwire - July 13, 2010) -  The Major League Baseball season has reached the midway point, and so far in 2010, fans have paid lower prices for game tickets than in 2009. The average price of MLB tickets sold on in 2010 has been eight percent lower than during the 2009 season.

According to TicketNetwork data:

  • Boston Red Sox tickets account for the highest average ticket price in Major League Baseball at $89. The lowest average ticket price in 2010 belongs to the Pittsburgh Pirates at $30.
  • Orders for New York Yankees tickets and Boston Red Sox tickets represent more than 27 percent of all orders placed for MLB tickets in 2010. That percentage nearly matches that of all other AL teams combined (28 percent).
  • With the opening of Target Field in 2010, Minnesota Twins tickets have had a nearly 28 percent increase in average selling price, the largest in baseball. Meanwhile, Florida Marlins tickets have sold for more than 34 percent less than last season.
