TicketNetwork Sues The Bushnell Center's CEO & President for Defamation

Suit Claims David Fay Deliberately Provided False, Inaccurate Statements on the Record

VERNON, CT--(Marketwire - April 7, 2011) - TicketNetwork, the leading online ticket exchange for events and innovative technology solutions provider for both ticket buyers and sellers, filed suit today in Connecticut Superior Court against the President and CEO of The Bushnell Center for Performing Arts for making defamatory remarks about TicketNetwork.

"David Fay made multiple, false statements about TicketNetwork and tried to mislead Connecticut legislators on a bill that is designed to protect the rights of ticket buying consumers," said Don Vaccaro, CEO, TicketNetwork. Fay made several defamatory remarks about TicketNetwork and Donald Vaccaro while testifying before the General Law Committee of the Connecticut General Assembly about a proposed ticket bill that would keep venues like The Bushnell from limiting the transfer or resale of event tickets from one person to another.

Fay later made similar statements to a Manchester, Connecticut newspaper. His comments included false statements that suggested that TicketNetwork uses computers to put tickets on "hold" to resell at inflated prices. TicketNetwork is an electronic marketplace that connects ticket buyers and ticket sellers. TicketNetwork itself does not buy, hold, or set the resale prices of any tickets.

"I think The Bushnell is a wonderful cultural institution," Vaccaro said. "Under Fay's executive direction, The Bushnell has undertaken the management of Rentschler Field and the SS&C SummerWind Performing Arts Center, as well as the lucrative ticketing contracts that each venue carries," added Vaccaro. But since this institution is highly respected and influential, Vaccaro believes The Bushnell's CEO should be held to a higher standard of conduct. "I would expect more from the largest arts organization in Connecticut, and a non-profit executive," Vaccaro added.
