Tidal Enterprise Scheduler 5.3 Delivers Extensible Foundation for Datacenter Consolidation

Standardizing Enterprise Job Scheduling Reduces Costs and Simplifies End-to-End Automation

PALO ALTO, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- April 23, 2007 -- Tidal Software, a leading provider of application scheduling and performance management software, today announced the availability of Tidal Enterprise Scheduler 5.3. This release is optimized to support datacenter consolidation initiatives by providing the leading solution for extensibility and enterprise system coverage to facilitate end-to-end automation. With Tidal Enterprise Scheduler 5.3, IT operations can standardize on a single enterprise job scheduling solution, centralize to a single point of management and gain greater visibility and control of operations.

The new capabilities in this release focus on extending the reach of job scheduling to deliver end-to-end automation to optimize the use of existing application assets, improve server utilization and eliminate the complexity of managing multiple schedulers.

Tidal Enterprise Scheduler 5.3's extensible architecture is particularly suited for datacenter consolidation initiatives because its pre-packaged automation support covers everything from z/OS, Windows, UNIX, and Linux, to web-services, databases, storage management, FTP/SFPT, and ETL solutions, to extended support for ERP applications including Oracle, SAP and PeopleSoft and a wide array of real-time events including file, email, databases, operation systems and variables. Further extensibility through its adapter framework ensures coverage rich enough to reach the entire enterprise with a single solution.

Tidal Enterprise Scheduler also continues to set the benchmark for ease-of-use, ensuring that the entire operations team can readily leverage the solution quickly, even in the most complex applications. New capabilities for business process views enable the modeling and visualization of complex process flows: for example, it becomes easy to model and manage complex ETL (extract, transform, and load) processes involving hundreds of data sources.

"Enterprises are continuing with datacenter consolidation. Part of this consolidation process is consolidation of multiple scheduling solutions. A single enterprise scheduling solution lowers cost, improves efficiency and quality of service," said Milind Govekar, Research VP at Gartner. "Enterprise IT can thus automate process end-to-end which go across multiple heterogeneous platforms and applications with minimum manual intervention and get a complete view of all the jobs in their environment."

This release also furthers Tidal's pioneering integration of scheduling with application performance management to deliver insight and visibility into the performance of applications such as SAP, Oracle, and PeopleSoft to ultimately drive proactive management. This eliminates the guesswork that compromises operations' ability to maintain service levels by preventing performance degradation before there is a business impact.

"Ease-of-use through our script-less scheduling together with our broad enterprise coverage is proving to be a winning combination and driving ROI for our customers," said Rod Butters, senior vice president of marketing for Tidal Software. "Our domain expertise and commitment to innovation ensure that Tidal is the ideal company to partner with to fulfill the promise of datacenter consolidation."

The specific capabilities designed to support datacenter consolidation in this release also include an array of enhancements developed expressly in response to enterprise customer requirements. Tidal Enterprise Scheduler 5.3 is in general availability globally today through Tidal and its network of partners.
