Tideway Expands Coverage to Discover and Model All Major Oracle E-Business Suite Applications

Latest Update Powers Standardization Initiatives, Enables Customers to Expedite Data Center Transformations

NEW YORK, NY and LONDON--(Marketwire - June 16, 2009) - Tideway today announced that its flagship product, Foundation, can now discover all 73 Oracle E-Business Suite applications out-of-the-box. While Foundation has historically offered comprehensive coverage for infrastructure software, this update represents an unprecedented level of automated discovery and mapping of business applications, including Oracle's popular modules for order management, supply chain planning, procurement, manufacturing, human resources, finance, and CRM.

According to Forrester Research, "ERP applications represent a major software investment for most companies, consuming a significant portion of IT staff resources and budgets for maintenance fees, internal support, licenses, upgrades, and enhancement projects."(1) Tideway's new capability automatically models the footprint of Oracle E-Business applications, enabling customers to quickly and easily enforce consistency of server builds, monitor license agreements and usage, and expediently apply Oracle's Critical Patch Updates (CPU) throughout the data center. It additionally helps to minimize unplanned downtime of these critical business applications.

"As a company that specializes in ERP implementations -- specifically around Oracle products -- Tideway's ability to discover the Oracle E-Business Suite application modules and underlying components is a huge advantage for us," said Melo Rajakumar, chief operating officer of Quest America. "These dynamic application maps give us the rapid insight we need to quickly improve performance and availability of the Oracle E-Business Suite."

"According to Forrester, 30% of surveyed North American and European enterprise firms plan to expand or upgrade their ERP software in the next 12 months(2)," said Adam Kerrison, chief technology officer of Tideway. "Tideway can help simplify and accelerate what is a massive undertaking for IT. Organizations can now discover, map, and model their E-Business Suite deployment in a matter of days -- not weeks or months. This offers users an unprecedented level of transparency and control over their Oracle environment."

This new capability is delivered through the Tideway Knowledge Update (TKU) service. TKU is a community-directed offering that catalogues software and hardware assets running in data centers and delivers a monthly update to continually increase the number of software products recognized across platforms. TKU helps organizations identify configuration issues, software with known vulnerabilities and costly software that has reached end-of-life, and is designed to meet four key criteria for data quality:

-- Coverage - The cross-platform service covers all of the leading
products that underpin business applications as identified by industry
    analyst groups.
-- Completeness - TKU employs multiple techniques to capture deep version
information, configuration data, and license details, identifying instances
of products and mapping them to the supporting infrastructure.
-- Accuracy - With Tideway's unique data provenance, users have a
definitive chain of evidence on the origin of each configuration item (CI)
    and attribute.
-- Currency - Monthly TKU releases ensure that the latest vendor products
and upgrades are identified and customer requirements are met in a timely
    fashion.

TKU currently boasts over 18,000 product configurations that identify software processes and sub-processes, providing an unmatched level of granularity to ensure maximum completeness. The service maintains patterns based on contributions from both publishers and product experts in customer organizations, and covers a broad range of deployment patterns that normally elude accurate identification by other software recognition techniques.
