Tierney Brothers Classroom of the Future Grant Winner Announced

More Than 150 Minnesota Schools Competed for the K-12 Technology Grant

MINNEAPOLIS, MN--(Marketwire - December 14, 2010) - Dakota County Alternative Learning School (DCALS), Rosemount, MN is the winner of the 2010 Tierney Brothers Classroom of the Future Technology Grant.

More than 150 schools competed for the 2010 grant, which was developed by Minneapolis-based Tierney Brothers to raise awareness about the benefits of classroom technology.

DCALS was selected based on how other technology programs and tools have been used in the school, how programs were first initiated, technology goals, challenges and opportunities, and measureable impact on student engagement and learning.

"We're very excited," said Dan Hurley, Principal. "I was attending the TIES tradeshow in Minneapolis when I saw the announcement at Tierney Brothers' booth. I couldn't believe it, I said, 'that's our school!' I can promise that this technology will impact many, many students."

Plans will begin early in 2011 for installation of a fully-integrated Tierney Brothers Classroom of the Future technology suite that includes a SMART Board™ interactive whiteboard with classroom-wide interconnectivity, Epson projector and a SAFARI Montage Video on Demand Server & Content.
