Tilera Announces Production Availability of the TILEPro Family of Processors

The Industry's Highest Performance Embedded Processor Is Ready to Fulfill Volume Manufacturing Requirements

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - June 23, 2009) - Tilera® Corporation today announced that the TILEPro36™ and the TILEPro64™ processors have passed through full qualification and will be available for production deliveries in July 2009. The TILEPro™ family delivers the highest performance available to the embedded market and leads the industry in power-performance density and ease of programming.

"This release to production of our TILEPro family is a clear demonstration of Tilera's multicore performance leadership," said Troy Bailey, VP of Marketing, Tilera Corporation. "With the TILEPro processors, Tilera's customers can immediately achieve the kind of performance that our competitors have announced as being planned for their next generation of processors."

"With three processors in production and more than 25 design wins, Tilera is establishing itself as a viable player in the embedded multicore processor market," said Linley Gwennap, President and Principal Analyst, The Linley Group. "Tilera provides a significant value proposition to a wide range of customers. Based on our research, Tilera delivers very high performance on top of being more power efficient than any of its competitors."

The TILEPro processors were initially sampled in Q4 2008, enabling lead customers to design advanced products using these devices. The production release of the TILEPro family will support the introduction of customers' products in Q3 of this year. A number of TILEPro-based products are currently under development for video conferencing, network security, Video-on-Demand (VoD), cloud computing, and several defense applications.

"SafeNet is delivering security solutions for the next generation of networking speeds and protocols," said Jay Lindenauer, SafeNet's Director of Engineering and Product Manager for High Speed Encryption. "We chose the TILEPro36 processor to provide greater performance, integration, and flexibility as customer needs and standards evolve in this dynamic market space. The Tilera architecture provides the horsepower we historically got from an FPGA, but with a programming model that enables us to rapidly deliver advanced solutions to market."

About the TILEPro Processor Family

The TILEPro processors incorporate a number of new features to maximize application performance while offering the best performance-per-watt in the industry. The TILEPro's Dynamic Distributed Cache (DDC™) technology accelerates highly-threaded and shared-memory applications, delivering an average 50% performance boost over Tilera's previous generation processor.

Further, the TILEPro processors incorporate TILEdirect™ coherent I/O to deliver high-speed packet data directly into the processor array without the latency of a trip to and from DDR memory. Additional instruction set extensions deliver up to 2X improvement in audio and video signal processing.

The mid-range TILEPro36 with 36 processor cores -- each capable of running Linux -- operates at 500 MHz. The high-end TILEPro64 is available both in 700 MHz and high-performance 866 MHz speed grades. All of these devices offer system-on-a-chip capabilities with integrated DDR2 memory controllers and rich I/O including PCI Express and multiple 1 and 10 gigabit Ethernet interfaces to save on cost and printed circuit board real estate.
