Tilera Demonstrates the Highest 1080P Video Processing Performance in Standard C/C++

Tilera's TILE64™ Processor Is a One-Chip Solution Replacing Multiple DSPs and Video-Specific Processors

LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwire - April 29, 2008) - INTEROP -- Tilera Corporation, developer of the breakthrough TILE™ family of high-performance multicore processors for the embedded market, today announced that it will demonstrate real-time HD 1080P codec performance running multiple streams on one TILE64™ processor. This demonstration marks the highest multi-stream, real-time HD 1080P performance available on a single-chip with full C/C++ language support and a standard Linux programming model. By comparison, getting the same performance requires up to ten DSP chips or multiple video processors using proprietary programming models.

Tilera's TILE64 processor is a multicore processor that combines 64 general-purpose cores, each programmable in C/C++ and capable of running a complete operating system. Each core includes support for signal processing instructions, increasing the software performance for video applications. The TILE64 processor can handle up to eight HD 1080P streams processing encode at 30 frames-per-second, enabling customers to replace multiple DSP chips and/or processors that come with proprietary programming models with a single TILE64 processor and its standard toolset.
