Tilera Finalist for Distinguished 2010 World Technology Award

Other Finalists Were Apple, NASA & GM, Rambus

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - December 7, 2010) - Tilera® Corporation, developer of the breakthrough high-performance TILE™ family of many core processors, today announced that it was named one of just four finalists for the prestigious 2010 World Technology Award in the IT Hardware category. Tilera -- who was joined by Apple Computer, Inc., NASA & GM, and Rambus -- is the only semiconductor company named a finalist, beating out Intel, nVidia and Qualcomm, as well as 23 other technology companies. The finalists and winners were announced at a gala ceremony on Thursday, Dec. 2 by Anchor and Chief Business Correspondent for CNN, Ali Velshi, and Founder and Chairman of The World Technology Network, James P. Clark, at the Time & Life building in New York City.

"We congratulate Tilera for its success in being selected as a Finalist for the 2010 World Technology Awards and, therefore, as new WTN Corporate Member," said Mr. Clark. "Our Awards go to those who are doing the innovative work of the greatest likely long-term significance in their fields. Tilera certainly fits the bill. Tilera's technology -- its performance and power saving as well as elegant programming model are transforming the embedded computing and datacenter landscapes."

"Tilera's breakthrough multicore architecture is gaining traction, and this prestigious acknowledgement is yet another indication of our momentum," says Omid Tahernia, CEO, Tilera Corporation. "We are honored to be recognized for our advancements by The World Technology Network and are humbled by the nominees and finalists in our category."

This is not the first time Tilera has received recognition for its breakthrough processor technology. In 2008, Tilera was named a finalist for the EE Times ACE Awards in three categories, in 2009 the company received the "Start-up to Watch" award from the Global Semiconductor Association, and in 2010 Tilera was named a finalist for the EDN Innovation Award and was named in the MIT Technology Review TR50, a listing of the 50 most innovative companies in the world. Moreover, Tilera has been part of the EE Times Silicon60 for three years running.

The winner of the award was Boston Dynamics, a company developing advanced robotics and a fellow MIT spin-out.

About The World Technology Awards

The World Technology Awards have been presented annually since 2000 to the outstanding innovators from each sector within the science and technology arena for innovative work of the greatest likely long-term significance -- both as a way to honor those innovators, and as a vetting mechanism to determine the newest WTN members. Nominations come from both current individual members of the WTN as well as through submissions made by nominees or representatives acting on their behalf. Individual WTN members then vote for their preferences from among the nomination pool. The Awards are announced each year in a gala ceremony at the close of the annual World Technology Summit.
