Tilera Named a Finalist in EDN's 20th Annual Innovation Awards

TILEPro64™ Multicore Processor Earns Nomination in Multiprocessing Category

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - February 24, 2010) - Tilera® Corporation today announced the TILEPro64™ has been selected from hundreds of submissions to be a finalist for this year's EDN Innovation Awards in the category of Multiprocessing. In order to qualify for the award, Tilera demonstrated innovation that resulted in a significant advance in technology during the past 12 months. Instituted in 1990, the Innovation Awards honor the people, products, and technologies that have shaped the semiconductor industry over the past year.

Tilera's TILEPro64 is a total reinvention of microprocessor design, eliminating the common bottlenecks and inefficiencies present in today's microprocessors. It is the world's highest performance general-purpose processor but consumes only 22 watts of power (typical). It features 64 identical processor cores connected via Tilera's iMesh™ on-chip network technology. Each core is a complete, full-featured processor with integrated L1 and L2 cache and a non-blocking switch that connects the core with the mesh. Each core can independently run a full operating system, or a group of multiple cores can run a multi-processing OS like SMP Linux and each core is programmable in standard C/C++. With this architecture customers reuse all their C/C++ applications.

During the months of February and March, EDN's worldwide audience of electronic engineers and engineering managers can use an online ballot to vote for Tilera and select the ultimate winners from among the finalists. Winners will be announced at a reception and awards ceremony on April 26, 2010, in San Jose, Calif.
