Tilera Releases New Version of Multicore Development Environment

MDE 1.3 Improves Runtime Software Components and Adds a Software Packet Processing Library

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - June 25, 2008) - Tilera Corporation, developer of the breakthrough TILE™ family of high-performance processors for the embedded market, today announced its release of the Multicore Development Environment™ (MDE) 1.3. The new MDE release includes multiple enhancements to the run-time software and a new Ingress Packet Processor (IPP) library. The new IPP includes a complete set of classification and load balancing features capable of handling 10Gbps of minimum-size packet network traffic on the TILE family of processors.

"Continuing on our promise to simplify multicore programming, we designed the new IPP in standard C so that it is easily customizable by any software engineer," said Richard Schooler, vice president of Software Engineering, Tilera Corporation. "Customers are using the new IPP to handle their proprietary headers, enhance their load balancing algorithms and replace the glue logic they used for these functions."

Tilera's MDE is an integrated set of tools and libraries that brings simplicity to multicore programming and helps programmers harness the full potential of their processors. The MDE offers full support for C/C++, standard programming paradigms, and the most advanced multicore debugging and optimization tools.

Tilera has focused on solving the hardware and software problems of multicore processors since the inception of the company in 2004. Tilera's MDE was first released to customers in early 2006 and major features have been added to it since then. With both the MDE and TILE processor family, Tilera is the first multicore company to offer both programmability and high performance for the embedded market. Tilera's Multicore Development Environment programming suite is currently available from Tilera to all of its TILE™ processor customers.
