Tilera to Reveal Details of Its Scalable Crypto and Compression Technology at Hot Chips

Tilera® Corporation, the leader in manycore general purpose microprocessors, today announced its participation in the 23rd annual Hot Chips conference, to be held on the Stanford Campus on August 17 through August 19. Tilera's talk, "TILE-Gx ManyCore Processor: HW Acceleration Interfaces and Mechanisms" will focus on Tilera's radical approach to acceleration in the revolutionary TILE-Gx processor family, offering the highest performance-per-watt on the market which enables a variety of solutions in the networking, multimedia and cloud computing markets.

Tilera will present alongside leaders in the field, including IBM, Intel, and Facebook, as well as students from institutions all over the world, including Stanford, UC Berkeley and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Tilera's forthcoming TILE-Gx™ 100 processor includes a programmable 120 million packet-per-second packet engine, 40 gigabits-per-second of crypto performance and 20 gigabits-per-second of compression and decompression. It has achieved this amazing performance in part by bucking the trends of lookaside and in-core crypto used in rival processors and implemented an advanced acceleration approach in the TILE-Gx MiCA™ engine. The MiCA engine is on-chip and scalable depending on the application. Lookaside approaches are plagued by contention issues and in-core crypto does not scale well in manycore processors. Further, by having acceleration contained in the MiCA engines, Tilera is also able to firewall functions to provide increased security for sensitive applications.
