Time Inc.'s Abe Cytryn Joins Magzter as Chief Technology Officer

Senior Time Inc. Executive to Spearhead Upcoming Innovations for Leading Digital Newsstand

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Oct 9, 2014) - Magzter, the largest and fastest-growing cross-platform, global digital magazine store and newsstand in the world, with over 21 million users, today announced that Abe Cytryn will serve as the company's Chief Technology Officer (CTO). In his new role, Cytryn will drive Magzter's technology strategy as the company begins to unveil a host of new products, features, and services for both publishers and consumers.

Cytryn joins Magzter after 15 years with Time Inc., where he was a key leader in accelerating the publisher's transformation to digital. Time Inc. named him CTO in 2009, and for the past five years, he has led all strategy and digital technology initiatives in support of new business models and product development. He also oversaw the technology development that led to a unique patented approach for driving subscription capabilities for a hybrid bundling of print and digital products. Additionally, during his tenure, Cytryn created and led an elite, in-house digital development group for mobile products that built and supported more than 50 award-winning apps.

"Adding Abe to the Magzter team is a big win for us," said Girish Ramdas, Co-Founder & CEO of Magzter. "He has a long and impressive track record driving successful digital strategies and building innovative technologies for both web and mobile. As we prepare to roll out new products and services this quarter and beyond, Abe will spearhead their success and drive greater results for our partners and better experiences for our users."

Prior to his position at Time Inc., Cytryn spent more than 25 years with Time Warner, serving as Vice President of Technology at HBO. There, he spearheaded application development, most notably building HBO's first direct-to-consumer offering for satellite subscribers.

"Abe's background with Time Inc. is firmly rooted in supporting subscription-based offerings through digital innovation and using consumer data to drive deeper engagement and higher retention," said Vijay Radhakrishnan, Co-Founder & President of Magzter. "As we continue to unveil new products and services in the coming months, Abe's expertise will be critical for our success. He is a true digital pioneer in the magazine media category and we are excited to welcome him to our team."

"Magzter is one of the most innovative digital newsstand services available to both publishers and consumers today," said Cytryn. "The technology they provide to publishers is truly unique and their consumer experience via web and mobile has been embraced globally. I am excited to join the company as we begin to roll out our new products and features later this year."
