MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA--(Marketwired - Sep 24, 2013) - Tintri, the leading producer of storage for virtualization and cloud environments, today announced that Mecklenburg County in North Carolina has successfully deployed Tintri to support its "One Person, One Device" initiative, which aims to provide all county employees with a tablet as their primary computing device.
The One Person, One Device initiative has already resulted in increased productivity and cost savings of more than $3.2 million for Mecklenburg County, one of the largest counties in North Carolina. Based on the results from this initiative, Government Technology awarded Mecklenburg County with the publication's annual Achievement Award in the "Driving Digital Government" category.
Previously, Mecklenburg County had relied on a legacy storage array that was unable to deliver satisfactory experience to end-users as its virtualization project grew in size and scope. The county evaluated other general-purpose, flash based solutions, which didn't ultimately meet its needs. Mecklenburg County selected Tintri for its zero management approach to storage, which allowed its IT team to quickly and efficiently scale up its virtualized environment to support 1,600 users with a consistently high level of performance.
"Tintri made things simple for us in every way," said Cliff DuPuy, Technical Services Director for Mecklenburg County. "That means quick and painless deployment, simple management on an ongoing basis, and very happy end users. In a nutshell, Tintri has enabled us to do far more with our virtualization project than we had previously thought possible."
"It's great to see Mecklenburg Country recognized for its innovative use of new technologies to transform operations and increase productivity," said Geoff Stedman, Vice President of Marketing for Tintri. "Clearly, the impact of the One Person One Device initiative is significant, and we are excited to be a part of it."
