2015 Is Social Media's Breakout Year With 27% Saying They Use Social for Business

BELLEVUE, WA--(Marketwired - Mar 9, 2015) - The rise of social is the most talked about productivity interruption in business. Determined to figure out if social plays a positive role at work, Tipbit set out to learn how business professionals implement social media into their working lives.

The following data comes from the 2015 Tipbit Business Behavior Study, which was released today, where Tipbit surveyed full-time professionals who use email at work via SurveyMonkey to quantify the increasing scope of social within their workflow.

"Many companies still believe social is a nice to have, but not necessary," says Gordon Mangione, Tipbit CEO and founder. "This report should motivate executives to welcome social into standard business practices. Employees who use social media gain a competitive advantage since they have a fuller context of their business relationships."

  • 27% of survey respondents use social as part of their business workflow
  • Do you believe LinkedIn is the top social network for business? Think again:
    • Top three social networks for business:
      • 72% said they use Facebook for business
      • 56% said they use LinkedIn for business
      • 45% said they use Twitter for business
  • Of those that use social as part of their workflow, 61% check out a social profile before a meeting.
  • Remember when search was only Google? According to survey takers, search tools have never been more social.
    • 61% of survey takers use Facebook
    • 51% of survey takers use LinkedIn
    • 42% of survey takers use email

The release of this study follows Tipbit's recent 4.0 update.
