SEBASTOPOL, CA--(Marketwired - May 6, 2014) - Maker Faire, happening on Saturday, May 17, from 10am to 8pm and Sunday, May 18, from 10am to 6pm, will be bringing the biggest and best show yet to the San Mateo Event Center in San Mateo, California. Two full days brimming with new maker projects, amazing attractions, education from the experts, and so many opportunities to indulge in delights of making. To make the most of the weekend and Maker Faire experience, offered are several tools to assist Faire goers as they make their plans. They are:

As attendees organize their time at the Faire in advance, they can add to their plans a visit to Intel's exhibit for an up-close-and-personal look at the Intel® Galileo development board. A Goldsmith Sponsor of Maker Faire Bay Area and founding sponsor of the Maker Education Initiative, Intel delivers accessible and open development platforms to the maker community to empower makers of all ages. Visitors can see what makers are making using Intel's platforms for innovation, including the Intel® Galileo board. Projects on display in the booth highlight new tools coming soon from Intel and others that have been contributed by the Intel user communities. In addition, Intel is a proud, long-time supporter of STEM education and hands-on learning. Maker Faire provides Intel® with the opportunity to introduce young makers to the creative possibilities of technology. At Maker Faire Bay Area 2014, makers of all ages can perform magic in the Intel® booth! Attendees can create their own magic wand using craft materials and simple circuits, and then watch their creation take life as they interact with light, color, and motion sensors to manipulate spectacular outputs controlled by an Intel® Galileo development board.

About Maker Faire
Maker Faire is the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth -- a family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity, and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the Maker Movement. It's a place where people of all ages and backgrounds gather together to show what they are making and share what they are learning.

Maker Faire celebrated 100 Faires in 2013 alone and has reached over 1.5 million attendees globally since it launched in San Mateo, California, in 2006, less than a year after the publication of the first MAKE Magazine in 2005. The eighth annual Maker Faire Bay Area welcomed some 950 makers and 120,000 attendees. World Maker Faire New York, the other flagship event, has grown in four years to 600+ makers and 75,000 attendees. Detroit, Kansas City, Rome, Oslo, Newcastle (UK), Tokyo and Shenzhen host our "featured" Maker Faires (200+ makers), and community-driven, independently organized Mini Maker Faires inspire and ignite creative communities everywhere around the United States and internationally.

Located in Sebastopol, California, Maker Media has been widely credited with jumpstarting the worldwide Maker Movement, which has been a transforming force in innovation, culture, and education. In addition to publishing MAKE Magazine and producing Maker Faire, Maker Media develops "getting started" kits and books it sells through its Maker Shed store as well as other retail channels.
