TIR Receives Technology Award for lexel

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - June 9, 2006) -

BC TIA Honours lexel™ as Most Promising Pre-Commercial Technology

TIR Systems Ltd. (TSX:TIR), announces that it has received the award for the Most Promising Pre-Commercial Technology by the British Columbia Technology Industries Association (BC TIA) for its lexel™ Solid State Lighting (SSL) technology at its annual awards gala held on June 8, 2006. In 2004, TIR Systems was also awarded the Emerging Company of the Year award by the BC TIA.
