TIR Systems Lights Up the Montreux Jazz Festival

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - July 27, 2005) - TIR Systems Ltd. (TSX:TIR), a world leader in light enabling technologies for Solid State Lighting, has returned from participating at the 39th Montreux Jazz Festival, held in Switzerland from July 1 - 16, 2005. Over 220,000 people visited the world-renowned festival, enjoying more than 250 musical groups and artists.

Working in partnership with Scenetec, a global entertainment lighting company, TIR Systems supplied event organizers with lighting products from its Destiny Series for the duration of the festival. Destiny SL and Destiny CW units were used to accent features and elements of festival venue structures.

Elsewhere a series of Destiny CG products were used to brilliantly illuminate the elegant front facade of the historic Montreux Palace, located in the heart of the town, with multi-colored light. Kevin Theobald, Senior Lighting Designer with Norman Disney & Young of London commented, "The highlight was the illumination of the Palace using the TIR Destiny range. I was impressed with the range of colours achievable."

"This is the perfect 'architainment' project for TIR's Destiny products," said Alfred Vallaster, Director of Sales, Europe and the Middle East Commercial / Industrial Markets. "The festival provides both the opportunity for architectural facade lighting and lighting for entertainment, giving the Destiny Series the chance to show its versatility and supreme performance, and we hope to be back for the Festival's 40th anniversary in 2006."

TIR hosted more than 30 architects and specifiers from around Europe, who witnessed the lighting spectacle and experienced first hand the performance possibilities of TIR's Destiny Series. "We were very impressed with the performance, particularly the distance of the throws that were being achieved," said Claudia Clements, Lighting Designer with Speirs and Major Associates.
