TIR Systems Strengthens its Senior Management Team

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Sept. 22, 2005) - TIR Systems Ltd. (TSX:TIR) -

New Chief Financial Officer appointed

Issa Nakhleh becomes Chief Strategy Officer

TIR Systems Ltd., a world leader in light enabling technologies for Solid State Lighting (SSL), today announces the appointment of Gary Brown to the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Issa Nakhleh will assume the role of Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) which is a new senior management position.

"Everyday we see the demand for Solid State Lighting growing. In order to capitalize on this opportunity the company must broaden and strengthen its management team. To this end we have been successful in attracting a senior financial executive in Gary Brown to the role of Chief Financial Officer, allowing Issa Nakhleh to move to the new position of Chief Strategy Officer," said Leonard Hordyk, President and CEO. "We believe TIR's ability to draw new talent like Gary is further validation of the soundness of our SSL strategy as we continue to focus on our core markets, Corporate Identity and Architecture, through expanded product lines, as well as diligently working on the formation of key strategic partnerships and the commercialization of LEXEL™ technology."

Issa Nakhleh has been TIR's CFO for the last five years and has provided exceptional commitment and leadership, including strong strategic insight. The new position of CSO will capitalize on his strategic abilities and will see him focus on developing new business opportunities including the company's licensing strategy. Hordyk added, "I am very grateful for the enormous contribution Issa has made over the last five years as our CFO and look forward to his ongoing contribution to the company's further success in his new role."

Gary Brown joins TIR Systems following three years as Corporate Treasurer at Vancouver-based Creo Inc. where he led corporate finance and risk management initiatives for the company. Gary brings over fifteen years of experience as a financial professional, having also held senior positions at West Coast Energy Inc., Vancouver, and CAE Inc., Toronto. Gary holds professional designations as a Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Financial Analyst.
