'Tis the Season to Help Those Less Fortunate

Junior Chamber Edmonton Celebrates 10 Years of Holiday Hampers

EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - Nov. 19, 2013) - JCI Edmonton has launched registration for its annual Holiday Hamper Program. For 10 years, the Holiday Hamper program has matched generous participants with families in need, creating a rewarding and unique giving experience.

To celebrate their anniversary, JCI Edmonton, in partnership with Christenson Developments, is throwing a party for supporters. "We just thought, there are so many people that turn out to help, and so many families in need! Let's make this a party, raise some money for the program, and get even more people out to help the families. It's fun, it's worthwhile and it makes such a difference," says JCI Edmonton Chairman Chris Curtola. "It'll be a great chance for people to mingle, get in the spirit, and give each other ideas for when they get their families assigned. Tickets are free, but we're grateful for donations to help buy turkeys."

"We often find that groups of co-workers, or family members and friends sign-up as teams. It's inspiring and heartwarming to know we can do this for families in our community. We all get so wrapped up in the season, sometimes it's just that much sweeter knowing you've helped someone else enjoy it, too." says Jamey Hawtin, Holiday Hamper Chairman.

This year, the JCI Edmonton Holiday Hamper Program has ambitious goals. "We think we're at a tipping point here," says Hawtin, "We've been doing really well partnering with schools and helping all these needy families, so we want to keep the momentum going. There are so many more that could use our support! It's time we push this to the next level, and we're depending on the generosity and caring of Edmontonians to help us get there."
