Titus Labs Introduces Metadata Security for the Microsoft SharePoint Platform

New Solution enhances security and improves collaboration within SharePoint Document Libraries

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA--(Marketwire - April 21, 2009) - RSA Annual Conference - Titus Labs, a leading provider of email and document classification software today at the annual RSA Conference announced the release of a new metadata security product for Microsoft Office SharePoint. The company is exhibiting with 5 other partner companies in the Microsoft Partner Pavilion. Titus Labs will showcase their solution in booth 1517 along with their other leading information classification and tagging security solutions.

Many organizations using SharePoint as a document repository would like to create a single document library for many different levels of users. Today this would mean defining per document (item level) security for many of the documents in the library. Titus Labs Metadata Security™ for SharePoint offers organizations an additional layer of security for SharePoint document libraries. The solution enables administrators to protect any document type and restrict access in SharePoint based on user attributes, metadata properties, or SharePoint content types. This solution eliminates the need for administrators to define security settings for every document.

"For organizations that rely on SharePoint in mission-critical environments, Titus Labs' Metadata Security offers enhanced document security for improved records management, "said Teresa Carlson, Vice President, Microsoft US Federal Sales. "SharePoint is now routinely used for critical document and records management requirements, and Titus Labs' Metadata Security provides an additional security option for SharePoint security access."

Titus Labs Metadata Security for SharePoint enables administrators to easily assign security access control based on any metadata property of a document including document attributes, content types, date, document author etc. Administrators will find it very simple to configure security with this solution as there is no need to assign permissions to each individual document. Rather, administrators can create a document library to be shared by different groups of users in Active Directory and each group can have different views and permissions based on the document's metadata. For example, all users could be given access to documents with a metadata tag of PUBLIC, whereas only legal staff would be given access to documents with a metadata tag of LEGAL INFORMATION.

"Our newest solution simplifies and enhances document security for SharePoint," said Charlie Pulfer, Vice President Product Management, Titus Labs. "Administrators no longer need to define access rights for every document and can easily ensure the right documents become available to the right people."
