Titus Labs, Together With PGP Corporation, Showcase Automated Classification and Encryption Policy Solution

Strategic Alliance to deliver enforcement of encrypted data classification at the desktop and server

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA--(Marketwire - April 20, 2009) - (RSA Conference Booth # 923) - At the RSA Conference in San Francisco, Titus Labs, a leading provider of email and document classification software today announced it has signed a strategic technology alliance agreement with PGP Corporation, a leader in enterprise data protection. Titus Labs Message Classification for Outlook, Outlook Web Access and Titus Labs Document Classification integrated with PGP(R) Desktop Email and PGP Universal(TM) Gateway Email can ensure all confidential emails and documents are automatically, consistently and transparently encrypted according to corporate policy. Titus Labs is participating in this year's annual security conference as a PGP(R) RSA partner pavilion sponsor and exhibitor, where Titus Labs will be showcasing its integration with PGP(R) technology and its joint data classification and automated encryption policy solution.

Data leakage and inadvertent disclosure of valuable corporate information can cause irreparable harm to a business. When information is not classified, users may not be aware of what information can be shared or distributed, and what information should be controlled. Information that has been classified can be identified and protected. Data classification, once established, can act as a foundation for information-centric security marrying the right level of security (i.e., encryption, tight access controls, rights management, auditing, etc.) to the most valuable data. Classification labels applied using Titus Labs help raise awareness to the sensitivity of the information and include metadata. If documents are being emailed, users and organizations can rely on Titus Labs to check recipient clearance and ensure documents are sent to the right individuals both inside and outside the enterprise.

Customers can use Titus Labs classification labels to specify a security policy before saving a document or sending an email, and can rely on the PGP(R) policy engine with PGP Universal Server(TM) to encrypt sensitive data before it leaves their network. This integration helps prevent inadvertent disclosure of sensitive information while giving the user instant policy feedback and control.

"Together, Titus Labs and PGP Corporation are providing corporate and government customers with an additional layer of security to their critical data," said Bryan Gillson, Director of Business Development at PGP Corporation. "Integrating PGP technology and Titus Labs' classification solutions increases awareness and control of security policy, while adding automated enforcement and protection to documents and email. This technology alliance and integration builds on PGP Corporation's position that encryption follows the data, regardless of application or location."

Titus Labs classification solutions enable administrators to associate classification levels with enforceable PGP(R) encryption policy, which provides customers with the ability to create automated protection policies based on data classification labelling at the desktop. For example, when a user selects "send," "send-to," "save," or "print" in an email or document, a customizable Titus Labs pop-up appears prompting a user to select a label (e.g. CONFIDENTIAL) that will automatically trigger a specific PGP email encryption policy.

Additionally, Titus Labs inspects documents for policy violations before saving, and provides instant feedback to users, so that the author can correct any problems. Titus Labs Policy Checks includes a feature called Email Attachment Checking. This feature ensures the classification labels on attached documents in email have a classification that is equal to or less than the overall email classification. This prevents "CONFIDENTIAL" documents from leaving the enterprise with a lower email classification label, such as "Public".

"Our relationship with PGP Corporation is instrumental in building out our data classification footprint and partner development ecosystem," said Blair Canavan, Vice President of Business Development at Titus Labs. "The joint solution enables our customers to create a solid data protection strategy to defend their most important information assets."
