Todd Newnam Assumes CEO Role at Encore Technology Group

GREENVILLE, SC--(Marketwired - Aug 27, 2014) - Encore Technology Group today announced that its chairman of the board, Todd Newnam, has assumed the role of chief executive and, with it, the management of Encore's day-to-day operations. Newnam, now chairman and CEO, has replaced Chris Powell, who stepped down from the CEO post earlier this week for personal reasons.

"I would like to thank Chris Powell for his many contributions to Encore Technology Group -- including his efforts to facilitate the split from our previous company and establish Encore as its own entity in February 2013," said Newnam. "We've celebrated a number of successes together over the last 18 months, and our highly capable leadership team has worked hard to build Encore into an IT solutions powerhouse that's fiscally strong and poised for continued growth, both regionally and nationally. I look forward to executing our growth plan in my new role as CEO."

Newnam assumed the role of chairman at the time of Encore's founding, and he has been heavily engaged in the business since day one. He takes the reins from Powell with a commitment to maintaining Encore's position as a proven leader in technology solutions for K-12s, colleges and universities, government agencies, and commercial enterprises -- while continuing to invest in the nationwide infrastructure supporting Encore's ever-growing cloud services portfolio.

Newnam's career in business operations and financial management, which spans over 20 years, includes a successful track record of providing valuable strategic counsel and financial guidance to emerging technology companies. He was with The Carlyle Group for over a decade, and left there as managing director and partner of the firm. Prior to that, Newnam was a vice president at Bowles Hollowell Connor, which during his tenure there was acquired by First Union (which in turn was later merged into Wachovia). Newnam holds a master's degree in business administration from Harvard Business School where he graduated with honors, and he also holds a bachelor's degree in political science from Davidson College in North Carolina.
