Todd Porter Brings Mobile Expertise to Qumu Executive Team

Todd Porter Joins Qumu Inc. as Vice President of Product Innovation and Marketing and Leads the Company in Taking to Market the Company's New Mobile Solutions

SAN BRUNO, CA--(Marketwire - Apr 12, 2011) - Today Qumu Inc. announced Todd Porter, joining the Company as Vice President of Product Innovation and Marketing.

"With this executive announcement we continue to strengthen our industry-leading management team," said Ray Hood, Qumu CEO. "Todd will be vital in driving Qumu's innovation and leadership in the enterprise mobile video market and extending our marketing reach."

Todd Porter leads Qumu's Product Innovation and Marketing teams, and is spearheading the company's expansion into enterprise mobile video solutions. A patented designer and engineer, Todd introduces new technologies and methods for mobile distribution as well as rapid prototyping of mobile applications.

Prior to Qumu, Todd led cross-platform development for applications on smart phones and tablet devices during his tenure at Advanced Imagination Inc., where he constructed mobile prototypes for the Medical, Insurance, Banking, Retail, and Gaming industries. Prior to this, Todd was Chief Architect and V.P. of Marketing and Sales for Bamboo Technology, bringing to market the first mass market DVD authoring application which won the Video Maker Magazine's best product of 2002, as well as CNET's Editors Choice of 2002.

Todd began his career at Southwest Texas State University as head of research for a team of professors using Laserdiscs under a federal grant. Todd is an accomplished engineer, a technical expert in optical media, video, audio and image formats, as well as a licensed Toshiba and Sony developer.

In the new position, Porter plans to pursue opportunities for video beyond traditional enterprise applications -- including mobile upload of video from smartphones and tablet devices, and to target a new generation of workers who are already proficient with the video medium and leveraging mobile applications.

"We need to create new methods, not only for delivery and ingest of video, but also heuristic methods that enable rapid storage and retrieval of those videos. As anyone has learned when using YouTube, attempting to guess at keywords and tags to find videos can be an annoyance -- but in the Enterprise infrastructure, it is a problem that can have significant cost and loss of productivity. The methods I've created will have real impact and make Qumu a thought leader in this space," said Porter.
