Tonight, the Venetian Ball Brings Italian Culture and Lifestyle to Toronto's Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts

Gala to Feature One of the Greatest Italian Concerts in Canadian History

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 29, 2011) -

Attention City, Assignment, News, Lifestyle, Entertainment, Philanthropy & Photo Editors:

Tonight, the 18th annual Venetian Ball will take over the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts in downtown Toronto, celebrating all things Italian – including the 40th anniversary of Villa Charities and the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy.

In keeping with previous years' tradition, the performance – featuring numerous top-tier Canadian artists – will not only be a show-stopper, but also a complete surprise. Past performers at The Venetian Ball include Paul Sorvino in 2008 and Frankie Valli in 2009. Attendees of the 2010 Venetian Ball were treated to a 90-minute performance by the legendary Stevie Wonder.

The format of The Venetian Ball will see 2,000 guests attend a cocktail reception and a once-in-a-lifetime concert of Italian music. Following the concert, guests will be treated to a wide array of food stations from some of the city's top restaurants. For more than 600 VIP guests, the Four Seasons stage will be transformed into a dining experience catered by an award-winning chef, followed by an evening of dancing and celebration.

Since its inception in 1994, the Venetian Ball has ascended to its current position as one of the top philanthropic events on the Toronto social scene. In 2010, the Venetian Ball raised a record $1.3 million net to support the important and unique work of Villa Charities, a family of organizations that has grown its mandate of providing care for seniors to include support for individuals with intellectual disabilities and mental illnesses. This mandate continues to emphasize and celebrate Italian culture, while welcoming all who need assistance.
