Tony Schmitz of Send Word Now Finalist in Business Continuity Paper of the Year Competition

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - Aug 13, 2012) - Send Word Now, the leading global provider of emergency notification and on-demand alerting and response services, is proud to announce that a paper written by its President and CEO, Tony Schmitz, has been shortlisted in the "Business Continuity Paper of the Year" competition hosted by Continuity Central and the Business Continuity and Resiliency Journal.

The paper, titled "What is Social Media's Role in Business Continuity?," examines both the upside and downside of social media use in the crisis management arena. In his analysis, Tony Schmitz also presents concrete examples of how social media may be used to enhance conventional emergency notification tools in the future.

The Business Continuity Paper of the Year competition, which first took place in 2010, employs a vigorous process to discover the best new business continuity articles and papers from around the globe. This year, papers were judged by David Honour, editor of both Continuity Central and the Business Continuity and Resiliency Journal, and by judges drawn from the Business Continuity and Resiliency Journal's editorial review panel.

The winning paper and the five short-listed papers are now available to read in the latest issue of the Business Continuity and Resiliency Journal. To read the papers, you can subscribe to the Journal. There is also a synopsis of the contest and each of the papers available here on the Continuity Central website.
