Top-15 Pharmaceutical Company Engages SK&A for Healthcare Market Research Services

IRVINE, CA--(Marketwire - October 6, 2009) - With more than 70,000 phone calls made targeting 45,000 multispecialty office-based physician sites throughout the U.S., SK&A Information Services, a leading provider of healthcare information solutions and research, today announced the completion of its largest market research project in its 27-year history.

The two and a half month project provided intelligence for the client's market research, marketing and sales to optimize targeting and engagement strategies for a new product launch. SK&A Research Associates identified decision makers and determined office practices and procedures for appointment setting, billing and coding, therapies, lab referrals, pharmacy authorizations, and more. When the project concluded, SK&A imported data to the client's in-house databases, including market research and sales force automation systems for immediate access.

"Our unique, comprehensive service offering enables us to deliver accurate market research survey results reaching a greater numbers of targets in a much shorter period of time," said Dave Escalante, President & CEO of SK&A. "Our clients are the recipients of unmatched value, as SK&A's Market Research Services is the unique combination of our company's highly accurate healthcare databases, with multi-channel access to healthcare providers and professionals including phone, fax and email, managed by a proven survey methodology that is executed and delivered by our U.S.-based Research Center in Irvine, California."

During the past six months, SK&A has managed and delivered several major custom-market research projects, including:

A Longitudinal Survey for a Biotechnology Company

An on-going project involves surveying 600 U.S. hospitals each quarter to determine which hospitals have the capability to screen for a specific infectious disease. The results describe the proportion of hospitals performing surveillance programs, as well as their future intent to make program changes.

A Purchase-Intent Study for a Medical Software Company

For this project, SK&A contacted 10,000 medical offices at random to learn if they use Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and/or Practice Management System (PMS), and if so, what company manufactured them. The study further defined the client's competitive landscape and identified business opportunities for their own EMR and PMS systems.

A Compliance Review for a Retail Clinic

This client, a leading walk-in medical clinic, faxes information to physicians. The client engaged SK&A to contact 4,300 medical offices to learn which ones have fax machines that are HIPAA compliant.

A Competitive Analysis for a Medical Products Distributor

SK&A surveyed a sample of 300 large cardiologist offices to learn about their business relationships with laboratories, medical/surgical distributors and pharmaceutical distributors. The survey identified the client's competitors and revealed new prospects for their products.
