Top 500 Census Issue: Home Channel Sales Increase 12% and The Home Depot Remains at the Top

NEW YORK, NY -- (MARKET WIRE) -- June 12, 2006 -- Home Channel News, the leading publication serving the home improvement products industry, will release 34 pages packed with statistical breakdowns and analysis of the key players in the home channel industry. The annual report card, chronicling the performance of the nations leading home channel retailers, ranks sales and includes expanded coverage in the following areas: sales and store growth, productivity indexes, sales by product category, sales by retail segment, and much more. The Top 500 Census Issue, released today, is the most comprehensive overview of year-over-year sales, earnings, developments and store counts for the nation's largest retailers in the home center/big box, specialty, hardware store, co-op, pro dealer and international markets.

Accounting for the largest portion of sales in 2005 were home centers. The Home Depot dominates the top spot, the same position for the past two years. The Home Depot's sales in 2005 were $81 billion. Paint companies grew in sales by 14%, including Sherwin Williams who had an increase of 22% from the previous year. Benjamin Moore and ICI Paints also had a stellar year. Lowe's, Wal-Mart and Sears came in second, third and fourth, respectively.
