ORLANDO, FL--(Marketwire - Mar 5, 2013) - David Campiti, founder and CEO of comics-focused international talent agency Glass House Graphics, has joined Red Giant Entertainment (OTCQB: REDG) as a Member of the Board of Directors.
"With his vast experience in the publishing and entertainment industry, David brings a wealth of experience as a publisher, creator and producer of comics properties," said Red Giant CEO Benny Powell. "He will prove to be a valuable member of Red Giant's board."
Said Campiti, "Benny outlined his vision for Red Giant as a positive force for change in the industry and valued my involvement. I admired the breadth and detail of the company's transmedia plans and was pleased to be asked to be a part of it."
Campiti began his career in 1982 as a comic book writer, soon scripting Superman's adventures for DC. By the mid-1980s he had co-founded and was editing for what became Malibu Comics, which was later acquired by Marvel. Campiti co-created Malibu's top-selling launch title EX-MUTANTS, spawning a video game and other licensing and solidifying his early stake in transmedia.
In 1988 Campiti founded his own comic book company, Innovation Publishing, which quickly grew to become the 4th largest comic book publisher in the country under his leadership.
At Innovation, he introduced comic book readers to such titles as ANNE RICE'S INTERVIEW WITH A VAMPIRE, LOST IN SPACE, QUANTUM LEAP, DARK SHADOWS, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, and dozens more. He carved out a lucrative niche by securing the comics rights to wide-appeal intellectual properties with no graphic novel presence -- and in the process, brought many new readers, such as a primarily female readership to what was previously a male-dominated industry.
After leaving Innovation, Campiti founded Glass House Graphics in 1993. Starting as a small talent agency and professional service firm, it quickly went international and currently represents over 120 of the top artists, writers and animators in the graphics industry. Glass House has a part in producing more than forty comic books each month for nearly every major publisher, including household name titles like MARVEL'S AVENGERS, THE GREEN HORNET, and SESAME STREET. Glass House's clients include Disney Worldwide Publishing, DreamWorks, Marvel, DC and Hasbro.
